As we move into 2020, our CBC Baby Boomer group begins its tenth year of volunteering at God's Pantry Food Bank. Initially, they did various tasks including repack and food sort. In recent years, the focus during the school year has been on filling bags for the backpack program which provides weekend nutrition assistance to eligible students. Currently, they are filling 460 bags each month for students at William Wells Brown Elementary in Lexington and for students in Floyd County. The group meets at God's Pantry Food Bank (1685 Jaggie Fox Way) on the fourth Thursday of each month from 10:00 AM until noon. Their next volunteer session will be Thursday, January 23.
