Sunday School - A common Sunday School experience is offered for all youth, grades 7-12. Led by a dedicated team of teachers, we develop our own session plans. In addition to our own materials, we use curriculum published by a variety of resource providers, such as Smyth & Helwys, Youth Specialties, and Group Publishing.
Retreats – In the fall we attend the state-wide Cooperative Youth Ministries Retreat that is held at a different church location each year throughout the state of Kentucky. For our spring retreat we get out of town to a retreat center so we can focus on building our group unity through discipleship and life skills development.
Summer Trip - We take our youth on a meaningful summer trip each year. Usually, these trips have a strong service-project orientation, but we occasionally take a discipleship-oriented trip. We are committed to not doing the same trip more than twice in any three-year period so as to keep the experience fresh and new. Our past three trips have been to Tampa, FL; Hendersonville, NC; and Green Lake, WI and this year we will be traveling to Gulfport, MS to help with hurricane reconstruction.
Missions Service – We are a missions minded group. Our youth group participates with local organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House and God’s Pantry as well as larger organizations such as World Vision.
Sunday Nights - We conduct a discipleship training program on Sunday nights as a counterbalance for the Sunday morning Bible study. Sunday nights are a time for us to read the Bible and apply it to our daily lives. We begin our time together with a meal that the parents provide.
Wednesday Nights – Our Wednesday nights consist of a time of fellowship where we ‘check-in’ with each other to see how our weeks have been and what the rest of the week will be like. We also use Wednesday night as a time of reflection allowing the Bible to read us through spiritual disciplines such as lectio divina and Ignatian Contemplation.
Youth Plus – Every third Sunday night of the month we spend an extra hour together to focus on group building. We do a series of group building exercises that stretch and challenge us to become a tighter group.
Monthly Fellowship Activities - Understanding that play is an important part of human development and group-building, we work to offer at least one fellowship event each month. These include such things as lock-ins, parties, athletic events, go-cart racing, canoe trips, amusement park trips, skiing, and movies.
