There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

Central Baptist Church seeks to offer ministries that are Christ-centerted, spiritually wholistic and culturally engaging.  We honor the person of Jesus as one who is revealed by scripture but is not bound by scripture.  We embrace the declaration of a 1963 Baptist confession of faith that says, " The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ."  We seek to model his example of servant leadership and consider ourselves to be his disciples.  He has taught us "to love God with all of our hearts, souls and minds."  This unreserved devotion calls us to accept that all truth is God's truth and we are benefited by all avenues of inquiry and emperical study. The greatest truth is the truth of love.

We have also been taught by Jesus "to love our neighbor as ourselves". The good news is that God loves us unconditionally and without reservation. Grace is the name we give this love.  We receive it without merit and offer it without restriction. Christians should not expect God to love them more than others or to treat them any differently than they treat all others.  Historically, Baptists have championed the primary responsibility and freedom of each person before God and we seek to honor that history with a defense of each person's right to be a person of individual conscience.  We want to be confident in our faith but not to the point where each of us are not also humble, vulnerable and teachable. For us, there are no taboo questions and sometimes complex answers to the many problems that plague and challenge our world. We embrace the liberty and freedom of all and seek to work with all people of faith and goodwill.
